With 2016 drawing to a close this month we look ahead to the bathroom tile trends sure to dominate the year ahead. Looking to update your bathroom with new tiling? At Ceramic Tile Merchants in Beverley we’re experts in tiles of all types, including bathroom tiles, kitchen tile and hall tiles to name just a few, and our expert team dish the dirt on the key tile trends set to be big in 2017.
Bringing the outside in
In the same vain we have seen brick and wood effect wallpaper take centre stage as one of the key interior design trends of 2016, brick and wood-look tiles are set to be big news in 2017 too.
Whilst wood-look tiles are not a new product as such, they’re sure to see a surge in popularity next year as they begin to become a whole-house staple (meaning they’re no longer reserved just for the bathroom and kitchen). Choosing wood-style tiles over solid hardwood will ensure you get the durability of a tile with all the aesthetics of hardwood.
Go to the dark side
Don’t be afraid of dark, moody colours to really create a stylish and classy atmosphere. Getting the tiles right in striking colours could add an air of luxury and relaxation to your bathroom, particularly when coupled with coppers and brass – killing two trends in one!
Grey tiles will be particularly popular, and whilst grey on their own may seem rather dull, teaming them with hues of navy blue, aubergine or wine could create a bold, brilliant statement. We have a wide range of ceramic tiles in stock as our showroom in Beverley, and you can even take samples home with you to see what works best in your bathroom.
Experimenting with patterns
Wave goodbye to square tiles laid side by side; 2017 is all about experimenting with tile patterns! Laying tiles in Herringbone and Chevron patterns adds interest and depth to the eye, and whilst this trend isn’t necessarily due to be around forever, choosing simple tiles will mean your walls and floors stand the test of time.
Mixed width tiles
Mixed width tiles are a personal favourite of ours, and our eyes love the detail and the unexpected! Mixed width tile floors are likely to become very popular in 2017, and combining different planks of different widths can really make flooring pop. We think this is a trend which works best for floors, but that doesn’t mean to say you shouldn’t experiment with walls too.
