Best Domestic Project Nomination

We are pleased to present to you a bathroom that showcases the very best elements of Victorian style. We are proud to have been involved throughout the creation of this bathroom, from our initial discussions with the client to delivering the finished design.

The tiles used were carefully selected from 'Original Style' - the leading manufacturers in this niche market. The company successfully replicates the colours, glazes and production methods of the era to produce their quality ceramic pieces.

"Most of our Artworks tile colours are authentic to the Victorian period - and also classics in their own right. Recreate the Victorian look as much or as little as you choose, or create your own individual style." - Original Style Ltd 2017

The stunning reproduction Victorian floor takes centre stage and sets the colour palette for the space. The striking black star motif characterises the dramatic pattern of 'Blenheim',  complemented by the supporting colours of Grey and Dover White to produce a theatrical repeating pattern across the floor. 'Telford', a traditional black and white scroll  border  is used around the perimeter of the room to frame the design.

The bathroom walls are fully tiled in Chancel Grey brick (228x75mm) with a Victorian scroll border Westminster Grey, which is underlined by an Omega pencil border in Chancel Grey. The skirting tile is Westminster Grey.

The clients completed the Victorian with dark cabinets, dark framed free-hanging mirrors, a cast-iron look radiator with towel rail and Retro petal drop wall lights. The finished room is aesthetically very satisfying, both practical and charming. It is testament to the imagination of the clients and the talent of the craftsmen who have fulfilled the vision.

"Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful." - William Morris, artist, designer and writer 1834 - 1896
