Keen cyclists Stephen Kamis and Tauf Rafiq are regulars at the Wellington Inn. Encouraged by friend Barry Hotham, their long-standing friendly rivalry will finally be tested, all to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Starting at the Wellington Inn in Lund at 10am on Good Friday, the sportive will head up to Malton, then back to Lund in time for a disco, food and entertainment in the village hall from 8pm.
The route will cover 51 miles, taking the pair through Middleton-on-the-Wolds, North Dalton, Huggate and Thixendale, then back via Sledmere, Garton-on-the-Wolds and Kirkburn.
Speaking to the Wolds Weekly, Barry said, "Stephen used to cycle to a very good standard and Tauf has been challenging him for about a year to a race of some sort and now he's finally accepted the challenge."
Tauf, 40, is a keen cyclist, while Stephen, 50, used to cycle competitively. A competition to guess the finishing time difference is running, with entries costing just £2 to go towards the cause.
The event will aim to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, and Ceramic Tile Merchants are proud to support this cause. So far Mash Up to Malton has raised around £500. To get involved or donate, visit the Mash Up to Malton Facebook page or the Just Giving page.
