Think Outside the Box with Unusual Tile Layouts

Thankfully gone are the days of the plain and boring square white tiles, and nowadays there's a huge array of choice when it comes to tiling your home, be it the bathroom floor, kitchen splash back or hallway floor. And whilst you may have considered various different size, shape and colour of your new tiles, most people overlook the tile layout.

Different looks can be created using the same tile simply by adjusting the layout. Here we take you through some of the most popular layouts you might like to consider for your next tiling project.

Square on

This is the traditional way of laying field tiles that you'll likely be familiar with. This layout looks fantastic in both muted colours such as white and cream, along with bright, bold colours too.

Offset Square

You wouldn't think offsetting by the length of half a tile could make such a difference to the final effect but it really does. 

Diagonal

Tight for space? Make your bathroom or kitchen seem larger than it is by using square tiles on a diagonal.

Brickbond

Rectangular shaped tiles work best in a brickbond layout, and we love this style with half tiles, metros, narrow bricks and chunky bricks.

Herringbone

Perhaps the most traditional way to lay tiles is the herringbone layout, which is experiencing a resurgence in popularity at the moment. A Herringbone design looks great on hallways floors with a mixture of plain and patterned tiles.
